You invest a lot in your home. Everything up to the last detail should be chosen according your wishes. Here is what you need to have in mind before taking the decision what type of system should be used for producing your new windows. 


  1. Wall thickness of the profile It must be big enough to provide the profile the necessary static i.e. not to “twist”. Wall thickness (inside and outside) of the major profile is determined by the manufacturer. The European Standard for profiles manufacture is ЕN 12608:2003 (Е) This classification of profiles by wall thickness is intended to represent the wide variations in profile and window design for the various applications systems which are in use in Europe. It is not intended to imply differences in profile quality or in the performance of windows provided that the relevant performance requirements for both profiles and windows are met. According to this classification profiles are divided into three classes. Class A, class B and class C. For class A the density of the sight surfaces must be at least ≥ 2.8 mm, and for non sight surfaces at least ≥ 2.5 mm. For class B the sizes are respectively ≥2.5 mm and ≥2.0 mm. For class C the manufacturer defines the wall thickness by his own.
  2. Profile content this is to be sure that during the manufacture of the profile are used the necessary additions and plastics, which will not let the profile to become yellow or pale in 2 or 3 years. This, of course, you cannot predict, but you can use price, manufacturer and certificates of the profile as indicators.
  3.  Number of chambers This is more or less trade trick with which the profile manufacturers try to popularize and increase the sales of their new profiles.  Although the number of chambers matters for defining the thermal insulation, known as “U” in the European Standards. The lower is its value the better insulation you have. The more chambers the profile has, the better insulation it provides. The optimal number for chambers is 5, which has no significant price difference from the profiles with less chambers.
  4. Steel profiles The integrated steel profiles must be thick enough to ensure the construction stability. Many companies try to save money from this element as it stays hidden from clients. The minimum thickness of the steel armature must be at least 1.5 mm, as the shape depends on the profile type in order to accomplish the strengthens and stability requirements for the product.
